It was a New Year’s Eve and the girls were catching up. As we compared schedules, our to-do lists, our finances and our plans for the year, we were all missing one important “to-do” on the list – ourselves.
How had we become so good at taking care of everyone else but not ourselves? Our kids were healthy, signed up for every sport and extracurricular available. Our husbands were finding time for their careers and some even made time for exercise. Our homes were organized and freshly decorated.
We are well educated, successful and motivated – yet we aren’t keeping our doctor’s appointments, working out regularly or investing time to be the best we could be. I had taken a small step the month before by signing the family up for a ski club. That night, I decided that for me, it’s time for a change. I knew that by changing my habits, I could control the outcome, just as I have done at work, at home and for our family.
One of my good friends recommended Beachbody. I’m a long time skeptic but after a few signature cocktails, I raised my glass. “I’m in.”
On New Year’s Day, the texts started flying. Orders for Challenge Packs were placed. Four days later, I had my DVDs and my shake mix. Adrenaline pumping, I pressed play.
We started posting our daily workouts. I made through Week 1 – more exercise in a week than I had done over months before. New habits starting forming. By the end of Week 2 I felt happier and more balanced. By Week 3 I started seeing results. By the start of my 2nd “21 Day Fix” I felt closer to being a better version of myself.
Six months later, I’m starting a blog to share this message: you have to invest in yourself in order to be the best mom, wife, employee, friend that YOU can be. The confidence, calmness and structure will positively impact the rest of your life.
My question to you is, “Are you ready?” Let’s do this together. Join my Challenge Group. Visit my page http://teambeachbody.com/marykateloftus or email me at email@example.com to learn more.
